How are pages paired together?

Pages are paired sequentially: pages 1+2, 3+4, 5+6, and so on. Each pair appears on a single landscape page with both pages side by side. If your document has an odd number of pages, the last page appears with a blank space beside it.

Can I create proper book spreads with this?

Yes. For book-style spreads where the first page stands alone (like a cover), enable the 'add initial blank' option. This shifts the pairing so the first page appears alone on the right, then pages 2+3, 4+5, etc., creating correct recto-verso book spreads.

Is this useful for comparing two documents?

If you want to compare two documents side by side, first merge them with alternating pages (use the Alternate Merge tool), then use this tool to place each pair side by side for visual comparison.

What output page size is used?

The output pages are twice the width of the input pages. For example, two A4 portrait pages combined produce an A3 landscape spread. You can also set a custom output size.
