How your data is handled
Here's exactly what happens when you translate a document with noll.
The translation process
1. Upload
Your document travels over HTTPS (TLS 1.3) directly to encrypted cloud storage. We use Microsoft Azure's European data centers — your files never leave the EU.
2. Translation
We use Azure's Document Translation API to process your files. Azure acts as a "data processor" under GDPR — they translate the content but don't store it or use it for any other purpose.
3. Download
You get a secure, time-limited link to download your translated document. This link expires after 30 minutes.
4. Deletion
30 minutes after translation completes, your files are automatically and permanently deleted from our systems. Both the original and the translation. Gone.
Storage details
| What | Where | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Original document | Azure Blob Storage (EU) | 30 minutes after translation |
| Translated document | Azure Blob Storage (EU) | 30 minutes after translation |
| Document content | Nowhere else | Never stored elsewhere |
Encryption
- In transit: TLS 1.3 encryption for all uploads and downloads
- At rest: AES-256 encryption in Azure storage
- Access tokens: Short-lived SAS tokens scoped to individual jobs
What we mean by "deleted"
When we say deleted, we mean deleted. Not "moved to a 30-day retention archive." Not "soft-deleted and recoverable by support." The files are permanently removed from storage.
If you close your browser before downloading, or if the 30-minute window expires, there's no way to recover the translation. We can't help you retrieve it because we don't have it.
Who has access
You: Full access to your documents during the 30-minute window.
noll team: Zero access. We don't have a way to view customer documents. There's no admin panel with a "view uploads" button.
Azure (Microsoft): Processes the translation as a data processor. Does not retain content after processing.
Nobody else: No third parties, no analytics services, no AI training pipelines.
