Translate an Excel file to English

Upload a spreadsheet in any language and get the same workbook back with the text in English and every number untouched.

Accepted here: .csv, .xls, .xlsx, .ods and more. Up to 40 MB per file, 10 files at once.

Price lists, inventories, survey exports and financial models often arrive in a language half the team can't read. Translating the workbook keeps every sheet, cell and number where it was, so formulas that point at cells still point at the same cells.

What to expect when translating an Excel file

  • Text cells are translated; numbers, dates and currency values stay exactly as they were, including their cell formatting.
  • Formulas are not rewritten. A formula that compares against a text value (for example =IF(A2="Paid",…)) can stop matching once "Paid" is translated, so check those cells.
  • Column headers and labels are translated with the rest. CSV files work too, but they carry no formatting to preserve.

Into English, from any language

You don't have to tell us the source language; it is detected per file, so a folder of German, French and Polish documents can all go into English in one upload.

How it works

  1. 1

    Drop the file

Upload the original file. The source language is detected automatically, so you don't have to pick it.

  2. 2

    Pick English

Choose English as the target. You can add more target languages and get one translated file per language.

  3. 3

    Download the same file type

You get the same file type back with the layout kept, ready to open in the program you used before.

What happens to your file

noll is built for documents you would not paste into a free online translator. Files are processed in EU data centres, never used to train models and permanently deleted 30 minutes after the translation finishes, or as soon as you delete them yourself. There is no document history to leak later.

Frequently asked questions

Will my formulas still work?

Formulas are not changed. Only formulas that compare against a text value can stop matching once that text is translated; search for quoted text in your formulas after translating.

Are all sheets translated?

Yes, the text on every sheet of the workbook is translated in one go.

Can I translate a CSV file?

Yes. CSV and TSV files work. They carry no formatting, so you get back the same plain file with the text in English.

Are number formats changed to English conventions?

No. Numbers are stored as values, so the decimal separator you see depends on your Excel language settings, not on the translation.
