Medical reports are written for other doctors, in dense German full of abbreviations. If you are being treated in Germany but think in English, or you need to brief a doctor at home, a full translation helps you ask the right questions. Health data is among the most sensitive data there is, so it should not go to a translator that keeps it.
Translating a medical report
- German discharge letters (Arztbriefe) are full of abbreviations such as "Z.n.", "V.a." or "o.B.". The translation resolves the common ones, but check anything that changes a diagnosis.
- Lab values and units are copied exactly. Reference ranges stay next to the values, as in the original table.
- Use the translation to understand your report and to brief a doctor abroad. For treatment decisions, the treating doctor should confirm the key findings.
German to English
German packs meaning into long compound words and puts verbs at the end of the sentence, so a good German to English translation reorders sentences rather than translating word by word. English text is usually 10 to 20 % shorter, so the translated layout has room to spare.
How it works
- 1
Drop the file
Upload the original file. The source language is detected automatically, so you don't have to pick it.
- 2
Pick English
Choose English as the target. You can add more target languages and get one translated file per language.
- 3
Download the same file type
You get the same file type back with the layout kept, ready to open in the program you used before.
What happens to your file
noll is built for documents you would not paste into a free online translator. Files are processed in EU data centres, never used to train models and permanently deleted 30 minutes after the translation finishes, or as soon as you delete them yourself. There is no document history to leak later.
How your data is handledMachine translation, not a certified translation
noll gives you an accurate working translation fast. If an authority, court or university demands a certified or sworn translation, you still need a sworn human translator; our output is a good draft to hand them.
Pricing
Translation is billed by the page. See the current plans before you upload a large batch.
See pricingFrequently asked questions
Is a machine translation accurate enough for medical reports?
It is accurate enough to understand the report and prepare questions. Diagnoses and medication changes should be confirmed by a doctor before you act on them.
Is my health data safe?
Files are processed in EU data centres, never used to train models and deleted 30 minutes after the translation finishes.
What about abbreviations like "V.a." or "Z.n."?
Common clinical abbreviations are resolved ("suspected", "status post"). Rare or in-house abbreviations may stay as they are; ask the practice what they mean.
Will my insurer abroad accept this translation?
Many travel and international health insurers accept a plain translation for reimbursement; some require a certified one. Check before you submit.
